A house full of Bauhaus classics
Industrial design is synonymous with Bauhaus; a style which first emerged in the interwar period. A new way of handling the problems designers were faced with at the time, Bauhaus was characterised by clean lines and minimalism.
Today, still, Bauhaus hardware is a much sought-after means to give modern interiors a unique finishing touch. The PH1930 door handle in Raw Metal, for instance, is a robust yet elegant design from the 1930s that is still loved for its sturdiness and simplicity.

Chemin de fer: the ‘railway door handle’
Another beautiful piece of design history is the Orient Express door handle, also known as the ‘Chemin de fer’ model. This door handle, designed by the Belgian engineer Georges Nagelmackers, was first used in 1883 when the famous Orient Express set off on its maiden voyage.
The handle was specially designed to fit the narrow door frames of the luxury train’s first-class compartments. Fun fact: the door handle is asymmetrical and consists of an L-shaped handle and a T-handle, the latter of which stands for the French verb ‘tirer’ (pull).
