Press file for the collaboration between Xaviez and Dauby

“Prière de toucher” (Please do touch)

Why did Xavie’Z and Dauby choose to work together? After the initial contacts between Dauby and Xavie’Z, and after having visited each other’s showroom, it was clear to both that they share the same vision entirely! Both manufacturers work with natural materials and contact with the material is of tremendous importance to them: door and furniture fittings are intended to be grasped and in the Xavie’Z showroom, customers are cordially invited to touch everything. You see signs throughout saying “Prière de toucher” (Please do touch). (Physical) contact with the materials is its philosophy and the feeling of the material is its aim. That is why it refers to the “sensuality of stone and wood”. It creates bold combinations with various natural materials.

Xavie’Z Dauby

Dauby’s door and furniture fittings are cast from ancient natural alloys such as brittannium, white bronze, bronze, wrought iron, etc. Due to the use of sand moulds, the metal fittings take on a rugged surface, which exhibits tiny imperfections. If you pick up the fitting, you notice immediately that it was not produced on a machine. You can feel the authenticity. So every item is unique. No two pieces are identical.

Precisely because Xavie’Z and Dauby are so compatible in their vision and philosophy, and because they are on the same wavelength when it comes to their products and craftsmanship, it is only logical that these two Belgian manufacturers should team up.

Who is Xavie’Z?

Xavie’Z is primarily a furniture manufacturer and interior designer specializing in kitchens. Its workshop is in the small Belgian town of Fleurus, but about 10 years ago, it noticed that its designs were highly sought-after on the French market and opened a showroom in the heart of Paris.

Xavie’Z works exclusively with top quality natural materials, using them to create unusual and bold combinations. Xavie’Z creations are timeless and the aim is for them to be handed down from generation to generation. So the durability of the materials and the timeless appearance both have a key role to play. The company uses traditional techniques but its interior exudes a modern sophistication

Who is Dauby?

Dauby is a distributor and manufacturer of exclusive door and furniture fittings, but it is increasingly expanding into bathroom and kitchen accessories and unique metal tiles cast in sand moulds. For years, the focus was on its retro range: retro models were cast in sand moulds in natural metal alloys. But when Dauby starting making its own Pure range, it also cast design models in these alloys using sand moulds. The combination of a cool model made of a metal that will develop a patina and has a living finish, with the tiny imperfections of the sand moulds, is tremendously bold and unusual. The strength of the Pure range lies precisely in the timeless character generated by this combination. In addition, Dauby also has top design door fittings from Italy, the French rustic style as well as cool-rustic fittings. The focus is always on the quality and durability of the material.

Why France?

The clientèle of both Dauby and Xavie’Z appreciate the high quality of materials and design. The creations are not tied to a particular location or time. The timeless character of the designs ensures that they reach customers all over the world. A fine example of this is the fact that Xavie’Z has a showroom in Paris and Mexico, while Dauby is now represented almost all over Europe, receiving enquiries from abroad (even from outside Europe!) every day. Dauby already has close contacts in Germany and the Netherlands, but is now looking to establish itself in the French market.
