Four-sided farmstead in sleek rustic style with stunning hand-forged ironwork.

The gorgeous wrought iron elements imbue the farmstead with a sleek rustic style cachet. These large yet sophisticated constructions deliver superior aesthetic added value. Which stands to reason, as Metaal op Maat brought over twenty years’ specialist experience to bear on this marvellous project. The myriad of wooden elements, such as gates, (support) beams and solid wood furniture contrive to deliver a harmonious blend of materials.

The kitchen is the heart of this four-sided farmstead, enveloped as it is by an arched passage that leads on to the dining room. In terms of fit-out too, durable, natural materials play first fiddle. Things to look out for include the:

  • bluestone floor;
  • oakwood kitchen cabinets;
  • wrought iron door frames;
  • Aged Iron furniture and door fittings.

The PHL door handle of the bespoke fittings between the dining room and the kitchen is part of the Pure® collection. In the late 18th – early 19th century, this model was often seen in Brussels townhouses. The design is inspired by the Chemin de Fer model of the sumptuous buffet coaches of the Orient Express. This fanciful yet regimented model houses a piece of history and brings an elegant touch to what is a sleek rustic style design.

The oakwood kitchen cabinets were fitted with PBU furniture knobs – also referred to as Butterfly knobs – in Aged Iron. This button bridges the gap between rustic and modern, courtesy of its flowing yet taut line pattern. Ideal for a sleek rustic style kitchen such as this!

The Aged Iron used for the furniture as well as the door hardware is a high-grade non-corrosive metal alloy, based on the cast iron as used back in the day. The weathered look brings a rugged touch to the rustic ensemble, lending the hardware an authentic cachet.

Hand-crafted fittings with a sustainable signature

The icing on the cake in this quadrangular farmstead are Dauby’s artisanal door and furniture fittings.

A logical choice, as Dauby uses strictly natural materials that will last a lifetime and that are recyclable to boot.

In the same way as Metaal op Maat, Dauby is not prepared to settle for mass produced fittings. Every single piece of hardware is poured into sand moulds in time-honoured manual fashion before it is hand-finished.

Moreover, calling on Dauby means you can rest safe in the knowledge that you are getting fittings that are steeped in history: models with a past, that are fashioned using an age-old production process.
