A few years ago, minimalist interiors were setting the tone with sleek forms and sombre colours. Warm, eye-catching fittings, such as bronze, weren’t exactly all the rage.
This trend, however, has now been reversed and door and furniture fittings in bronze are making quite a comeback in a number of homes. This offers a touch of warmth to even the sleekest interiors.
Welcome to the new Bronze Age!
The warmth and welcome of door and furniture fittings in bronze
In 2020, we are resolutely going for radiance, warmth and cosiness. We have such busy lives and we like to go home to charge our batteries in a warm, welcoming environment.
Luckily, you can integrate this warmth and cosiness into your interior really easily. With door or furniture fittings in bronze, you instantly create a classy but welcoming atmosphere!
We are also opting for authenticity, reverting to genuine, natural materials, craftsmanship and traditions.
At Dauby, we have various types of bronze that fulfil these criteria. For example, there is Raw Bronze & Raw Bronze Polished from the Pure collection or Natural Bronze from the Giara or the Fama collection, which offers a range of options for various designs and looks.
These collections of door and furniture fittings in bronze are also beautifully elegant, adding a touch of class to your home!
Art Deco and Art Nouveau inspiration
The use of glamorous elements in interiors dates from the Art Deco and Art Nouveau period. During this period, stately homes were richly decorated with items such as customised, cast, hand-crafted door fittings in bronze. These robust, fully bronze door fittings exuded pure prestige and were one of the highlights of the period.
The Pure and Pure Plus collections with the variants in Raw Bronze & Raw Bronze Polished also offer this glamorous, but warm look in your interior. Do you want to welcome the new bronze age into your home too? Then these collections are the way to go!
Choosing the right bronze door and furniture fittings.
There are various types of bronze, with different colour effects and textures. So there is always a bronze to suit your requirements!
With your bronze door and furniture fittings, you are also buying a living product; after frequent use, the bronze will form a patina where it is touched. A sign of genuine, solid and top quality bronze products with that characteristic, classy shine!
Below is a sample from our range of warm bronze door and furniture fittings:
- Raw bronze is the purest form of bronze, an alloy of copper and tin. Raw bronze is both colourfast and does not rust, meaning it does not require a protective layer. This raw form of bronze offers warm, coppery shades. To give the bronze this raw look, Pure® developed a special technique which involves removing casting residues without any additional polishing. After frequent usage, the bronze will become polished, in a natural way, and a light gloss will be created.
- Raw Bronze Polished is the polished version of Raw Bronze and offers a shiny, smooth, coppery finish. With the passing of time, this will take on a patina which creates a more matte, warmer bronze. Raw Bronze Polished can only be supplied on request, so please take the corresponding delivery time into account when ordering!
- Solid Bronze (NB/LB) is another alloy of copper and tin. The alloy has a red colour which, as a result of the chemical reaction with oxygen, will develop an oxide layer; Dark Bronze (AZ/DB) is the result of this. If this continues to oxidise, we will see a green/brown oxide layer develop, i.e. Green Bronze (VI/OG). The areas that are most exposed to oxygen will become darker and the bronze areas subject to greater rubbing (e.g. human contact) will become lighter. A real living finish!
